The Hitchens vs. Craig Debate
On April 4, 2009, journalist and devoted atheist Christopher Hitchens (author of the bestselling book "God is Not Great" and leading spokesman for the "new atheism" movement), squared off with one of the most formidable debators in the Christian world and arguably our planet's foremost Christian apologist, Dr. William Craig (acclaimed theist and Research Professor of Philosophy at Biola's Talbot School of Theology), to debate the topic: Does God Exist?
The event attracted a diverse audience of Christians, non-Christians and atheists alike. Over 4,200 watched the debate live on-campus at Biola University (La Mirada, CA), either in the Chase Gymnasium where it all took place, or in one of the overflow sites.
An extra 11,000 viewers witnessed the memorable occasion, as there were satellite sites in the surrounding community, as well as more than 120 churches and other facilities in 30 states and 4 countries broadcasting the debate.
It was an unforgettable and compelling clash of worldviews, and an examination of the major arguments for and against Christianity and atheism: Hitchens & Craig debated the origin and design of the universe, the implication of human morality, the deity of Jesus, and the validity of Christ's resurrection.
"Does God Exist?" is a vital resource for anyone who doubts the Christian faith-and seeks convincing evidence to defend it.
