This is the story of Baltimore Ravens' right tackle Michael Oher. A marvelous tale of redemption about a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, whose life was snatched from a certain early death or prison, and given a place of privilege within a loving, well-to-do white family that adopted him as one of their own and helped him fulfill his potential. Michael's presence in their lives then led to some really insightful self-discoveries of their own.
There are hard scenes to watch, because we can only understand redemption when we see the depth of need for it, and Oher's story is about as bad as it gets. We shouldn't close our eyes to these issues; instead, we should follow the example of Sean & Leigh Anne Tuohy, and face the problem head on.
